We offer taekwondo classes for kids, teens, and adults that develops self-defense skills and supports personal transformation through traditional taekwondo training in a positive, structured environment. Master jaysen Oshida has over 20 years of experience in Taekwondo. He is passionate about helping students grow both on and off the mat. Throughout his journey, He has earned a Kukkiwon-certified 5th Dan Black Belt, became a Kukkiwon World Taekwondo Master, represented the United States on multiple USA Taekwondo National Teams, and ranked among the top 32 taekwondo athletes in the world. Today, he bring world-class experience to every class. His goal is to help students build confidence, develop discipline, and reach their full potential.
Our taekwondo program follows a structured, step-by-step curriculum designed to help students progress with confidence. Each belt level builds on the last, which ensures consistent growth in skill, discipline, and understanding. We focus on respect, discipline, and encouragement in every class. Students are motivated to do their best while being surrounded by a culture that builds confidence, resilience, and strong character.
Most children can start Taekwondo around 4 to 6 years old, depending on their attention span, comfort in group settings, and ability to follow basic instructions. At 9th Island Taekwondo, our Tiny Tigers program is specifically designed for younger students to ensure the training matches their developmental stage, so they can learn in a way that feels fun, structured, and age-appropriate.
Class length depends by program to match the age and skill level of each student. Tiny Tigers classes for children ages 4–6 are 30 minutes long, while Beginner Kids classes for ages 6–12 run for 45 minutes. Teens and Adults attend 60-minute classes that provide more in-depth training and skill development. Students on the Competition Team participate in 2-hour training sessions focused on advanced sparring, conditioning, and competition preparation.
Our standard membership includes up to 3 classes per week, giving students a consistent training schedule while allowing time for recovery. We also offer Unlimited Memberships for students who want to train more frequently and accelerate their progress. Competition Team athletes follow a separate training schedule with additional practices throughout the week.
Yes, we offer dedicated beginner classes for both children and adults who are new to Taekwondo. These classes focus on building a strong foundation, including basic techniques, proper form, classroom structure, and an introduction to discipline and respect in a supportive environment.
