Established in 1996.
Glenn Finke first established the Karate Quest Dojo in Warwick in 1996 and then in Port Jervis in 2011 to pass on traditional martial arts as well as have a positive and lasting influence for its members. Students as young as 4 and into the golden years have been able to train and participate at the Karate Quest Dojo.
Glenn Finke has owned and operated the Karate Quest Dojo (with locations in both Port Jervis and Warwick) since 1996. He has been training in the martial arts since 1979 and has been recognized with various degrees of Black Belt in Okinawa Goju-Ryu Karate-Do, Ryukyu Kobudo and Muso Shinden-Ryu Iaido. Mr. Finke has been a highly regarded competitor in traditional karate competition at the state, regional and national levels while also having the privilege of representing the United States in international competition. He's also had the opportunity (through his long-time martial arts teaching career and assistance of his Black Belt staff) to pass on his knowledge of the martial arts through well-developed curriculum and unique teaching skills to men, women and children ages four and above. He resides locally in Orange County with his wife Donna and children Glenn Jr. and Daisy.
In addition to physical training, our kids program also focuses on character development and teaching important values such as respect, discipline, and self-control. We believe that these values are essential for children to succeed not only in martial arts, but also in everyday life.
Forms or Kata: Forms or kata are pre-arranged sequences of techniques that are performed in a specific order. These forms are used to teach proper technique, improve muscle memory, and enhance discipline and focus.
