Spivey Karate was founded by Master Spivey, whose journey began at 12, training under Sensei Frederick “Fred” Wilford Kelley Jr. After earning his black belt, he created “American Open-Style” karate and established schools across Florida, forming the Florida American Karate Federation (FAKF).
In 2002, Spivey Karate and Tai Chi was permanently established in Dade City. Master Spivey retired from his career to teach full-time, earning numerous awards, including Self Defense Instructor of the Year and the Platinum Lifetime Achievement Award. He continues to transform students through his passion for martial arts.
Spivey Karate’s mission is to empower individuals through martial arts, focusing on discipline, respect, and personal growth. Under Master Spivey’s guidance, the school blends traditional techniques with his unique “American Open-Style” karate, fostering self-confidence and perseverance in every student.
The school strives to create a supportive community where students of all ages and skill levels can thrive.
