Staten Island Judo Jujitsu Dojo Claimed

Where Tradition Meets Strength — Staten Island’s Oldest Dojo.

Since opening our doors in 1962, Staten Island Judo Jujitsu Dojo has been dedicated to preserving the true spirit of traditional martial arts while helping every student reach their full potential. For over six decades, we’ve empowered generations of students to build confidence, discipline, and real-world self-defense skills through the practice of Judo and Jujitsu

Our dojo offers a supportive, family-oriented environment where children and adults alike can grow stronger in both body and mind. With a curriculum rooted in authentic Japanese principles and modern training methods, every class blends focus, respect, and character development — shaping not just martial artists, but better individuals.

Leading our dojo is Sensei Joseph Cannizzo, a 4th-degree Kodokan Judo Black Belt, National Champion, and Team USA representative. With decades of experience competing and coaching around the world, Sensei Joe brings a unique balance of traditional values and modern teaching. He has trained students of all ages — from children to civil service professionals — emphasizing the principles of mutual benefit, maximum efficiency, and respect both on and off the mat.
