Jiu-Jitsu is a comprehensive martial art that originated in Japan and focuses on a wide array of defense scenarios and techniques. Jiu-Jitsu emphasizes the ability to turn an attacker's own force against him or herself, which means size and strength are not the most important factors in achieving proficiency in this art.
Our style is comprised of many modern-day descendants of unarmed combatives such as Judo, Aikido, Karate, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and Mixed Martial Arts (MMA). Instead of studying one of these styles alone, our classes teach techniques from all of them. This style of American Jiu-Jitsu is a complete martial arts system with a deep focus on self-defense scenarios. Our students will learn everything from striking, throwing, weapon defenses, multiple attack scenarios, ground fighting, and more. While all martial arts styles have value, many are sports-based rather than a fighting art. They specialize in training for competitions, which limits their response and tactics in real-life scenarios.
Our Little Warrior program was created by child development expert Melody Shuman. Her 20 plus years of child development experience makes this program truly effective. Our martial arts curriculum is a skills-based program, emphasizing 8 basic fundamental personal developments needed for a child's growth and success.
Working through a martial art and the belt ranking system gives kids measurable goals to follow that are realistic to attain. Here our students will start with basic techniques and follow through with practice and repetition until they have mastered the skills needed to progress in the art.
Just like our kid's class, all students start as white belts, here our older students and adults train side by side. This pairing further shows our emphasis on real-life scenarios.
